The client had a clear vision of what their products needed to do and required assistance with an industrial solution that would keep the IHD’s compact, intuitive to use and navigate, as well as cost effective for the energy companies to give away free of charge to their customers.

The industrial solution that was adopted for the enclosure, the unique rear navigation buttons, and the design of the graphical user interface was conceptualised and designed by Ronis.

The original IHD was very quickly taken up by E-ON (one of the first big six utilities to provide smart meter solutions to the UK).

Using the brand language from the GUI, a number of alternative layouts were created for the client, which are still influencing products released to this day.

This project demonstrates how investing in brand language and having an intuitive product construction can provide you with long term solutions for future products.
