The client had a breakage issue with the locking knobs used on their swivel seats and wanted to create their own version that was structurally stronger, used better materials and was more cost effective.

The new product was designed, costed and prototyped fairly quickly before moving into production.

The new knob was constructed of a machined stainless steel shaft with a glass filled nylon over moulded handle.

The product was successfully tooled, commissioned and manufactured in China using extensive UK tests that were put in place at every stage, ensuring the end result was as per the original design and specification.

In addition to in-house destruction tests, Kiravans tested the new knob on their swivel seat (at Millbrook in Bedford) to UK safety standards before introducing it to the market.
